JAMMU, Nov 20: The Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) of Legislative Assembly today directed the officers of Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to gear up their field functionaries and complete all final accounts pertaining to their corporation from 1996-97 to 2012-13 and get it cleared from the Accountant General’s office immediately.
The Committee, which met here under the chairmanship of MLA Mohammad Sharief Niaz discussed and examined the CAG’s audit paras pertaining to the JKPCC besides functioning of the Corporation.
Threadbare discussion was also held on revenue generated through interest.
Legislators, Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari, Peer Afaq Ahmed, Jagdish Raj Sapolia, Baldev Raj, Indu Pawar, Ghulam Nabi Monga and Ali Mohammad Dar attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions for further improvement in the working of the JKPCC. They also stressed for conduct of effective audits.
The panel sought detailed information about the interest on accounts registered during the period from 2001 onwards.
Principal Account General, J&K, Dr. S. C Pandey assured the Committee that all pending accounts will be cleared within three months, once JKPCC submits its report. He said that a special team will be put in place to do the job on priority.
Among others Commissioner Secretary PWD, Tanvir Jahan, Development Commissioner works A. Hamil, Managing Director JKPCC, T R Bhagat and other officers of JKPCC and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
