JAMMU, May 1: Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Pulse Hospital & Research Centre Mohd Qasim has taken an initiative to promote the educational training in the Hospital, especially for joint replacements and arthroscopic (keyhole) surgeries, under the supervision of Dr Summit Mahajan.
Dr Bhupinder Singh, Executive Director and Course Coordinator stated that two fellows, Dr Anitipal Singh and Dr Amit Gupta, have already completed their observership in the Hospital. He said, “It is strongly recommended to continue medical education which is very consequential part of the curriculum of a surgeon. Moreover, this programme will enhance the knowledge of the local and young surgeons and acquaint them with the latest and advanced technologies/techniques for joint replacement”.
Dr Mohd Iqbal Bhat, Medical Director, also informed that highly advanced surgeries will be performed and intensive research shall be initiated in the Hospital for the wider advantage of both the patients and the doctors.
Dr Summit Mahajan, MS, DNB & MCh (Orthopaedics) fellowship is trained from AIIMS New Delhi, Germany, Singapore, UK and many other countries for Joint Replacement and Arthroscopy. He has a vast experience of more than 12 years in joint replacement and has undertaken/completed approximately 8000 plus surgeries.
Presently, Dr Summit is senior level consultant at Apollo Hospital, Amritsar. He has started surgeries since last 4 months in Jammu at Pulse Hospital & Research Centre, Channi Himmat on first and third Saturday of every month.
Arthroscopies or key-hole surgeries are usually done for the ligament injuries of knee and shoulder joints. These injuries are usually associated with sports related trauma. The patients can return to their respective sports related activities very shortly under the proper guidance and physiotherapy.
