Srinagar, Mar 6: Authorities have achieved 100 percent coverage under the Pulse Polio Immunization program carried out from March 3-5 with an aim to cover over 18 lakh children across J&K.
According to details, on day 2 of the immunization program-March 4-175,135 children in the 0-5 age group received the Oral Polio Vaccine across J&K, and on day 3-March 5-63,868 children were covered across the Union Territory.
Division-wise details from Kashmir state that on day 2, 71,095 children received the Oral Polio Vaccine in Kashmir Division, and 17,424 on day 3; in Jammu Division, 104,040 children were covered on day 2, and 46,444 on day 3.
Earlier, on day 1, the Oral Polio vaccine was given at the vaccination booths, and throughout the day, 1,651,105 children-accounting for 88 percent-were covered across J&K. On the subsequent days, the left-outs were covered through a door-to-door campaign till March 5.
The district-wise breakdown of details from Kashmir Division states that on day 2, 7,990 were covered in the district of Anantnag and 1,683 on day 3, covering 143,715 children during the program, accounting for 100 percent coverage.
In Bandipora, details state that on day 2 of the vaccination program, 5,374 children were covered and 1,068 on day 3, covering 61,074 children, accounting for 99 percent coverage.
In district Ganderbal, 3,084 were vaccinated on day 2 and 348 on day 3, covering 47,105, accounting for 101 percent coverage during the three days of the immunization program. In Kulgam, the details state that 9,775 children were covered, and 3,214 others on day 2, covering 87,605 with 99 percent coverage.
Further, in Kupwara, on day 2, 11,032 children were covered under the immunization program, 2,684 on day 3, totaling 130,855 with 100 percent coverage; in Pulwama, details state that 3,584 were covered on day 1 and 1,801 on day 2, covering 93,567 children with 100 percent coverage.
In Shopian, details reveal that on day 2, 3,969 children were covered and 1,713 on day 3, covering all of the 42,824 eligible under-5 children in the district. 12,015 children were covered in Baramulla on day 2 and 2,293 on day 3, ensuring 100 percent coverage, covering 163,587 children.
As per details, in Budgam, 6,586 eligible children were covered on day 2, 236 on day 3, 7,686 on day 2 in Srinagar and 2,384 on day 3, recording 100 percent coverage in both districts, respectively.
With regard to districts in the Jammu division, most have exceeded the set target. In Samba district, 6,767 were covered on day 2 of the immunization program and 3,177 on day 3, covering 43,206, recording 105 percent coverage. In Jammu district, 27,566 children were covered on day 2, and 14,126 on day 3, covering 210,449, recording 112 percent coverage.
In Kathua, details state that 10,580 children were covered on day 2, 1,992 on day 3, covering 102,174 and recording 101 percent coverage. Rajouri vaccinated 10,917 children on day 2, 2,894 on day 3, covering 90,875, recording 101 percent coverage. In Poonch, details state that 7,767 children were vaccinated on day 2, 5,071 on day 3, covering 79,017, recording 100 percent coverage.
Udhampur district, 6,714 children were covered on day 2, 2,245 on day 3, covering 84,924 children, recording 99 percent coverage; in Reasi district, details state that 7,656 were covered on day 2, 5,408 on day 3, recording 108 percent coverage; in Doda, 9,592 were covered on day 2, 5,101 on day 3, covering 57,524 with 104 percent.
In Ramban, details state that 10,907 were covered on day 2, 1,843 on day 3 with 101 percent coverage. Lastly, in district Kishtwar, details state that on day 2, 5,574 children received their Oral Polio Vaccine, 4,587 children on day 3, covering 100 percent of eligible children in the district.
