Srinagar, Nov 29: Hundreds of residents of Drusso in Pulwama district today staged a sit-in at Shopian-Srinagar road to protest against the Power Development Department for not repairing a damaged electricity transformer in their locality for the last two weeks.
The residents blocked the road for nearly three hours in the morning by putting logs on the road, which disrupted the traffic movement from Pulwama to Shopian district and the other adjacent areas.
The agitating residents said the PDD has failed to repair the faulty transformer and thus deprived them of electricity in this chilly winter when electricity was most needed.
Later, after three hours of protest, the residents called off the protest after some district officials reached the spot and assured them that their grievance will be addressed soon.
