JAMMU, Dec 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has expressed its concern over the incident at Kishtwar in which a temple is reported to have been damaged leading to communal tension in the area.
In a party meeting held today at PCC headquarters here under the chairmanship of PCC president Ghulam Ahmed Mir, the members expressed their concern over the alleged incident whereby a temple is reported to has been burnt, creating resentment amongst the members of minority community which led to tension in the area. The meeting appealed the people to maintain peace and communal harmony at all costs in order to defeat the designs of mischievous elements. The meeting demanded that the Government should immediately identify the culprits and take stern action against them.
The meeting reviewed overall situation prevailing in the State and the ongoing problems of people of different sections of society with regard to ration, power, health, education and unemployment, who are suffering for wrong policies of the Government. It was decided in the meeting to expose the Government for its anti- people policies in order to seek justice for the poor and downtrodden sections of the society.
Senior vice president Sham Lal Sharma; vice presidents Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla and Kanta Bhan besides others also spoke on the occasion. Prominent among those present included Shabir Ahmed Khan, Abdul Majid Wani, Th Balwan Singh, Manjit Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh, Namrata Sharma, Faqir Nath- all general secretaries ; Anil Chopra- president DCC Jammu; Kuldip Raj Verma, Maheshwar Singh; Shiv Dev Singh-Ex-MLA, Shashi Sharma, Indu Pawar, Ex-MLA, Uma Shanker Pandey-IYC Secretary, Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC), B S Sambyal (Seva Dal), Pranav Shagotra (PYC); Ch Abdul Gani; Ashwani Puri, Pawan Raina, Pawan Singh, Neeraj Gupta, Manjeet Singh Jatt, Nadeem Sharief Niaz, Sanjeev Sharma and BB Gupta.
