Punjab couple held with 2 Kg heroin worth crores

JAMMU, June 27: A couple from Punjab’s Amritsar was arrested with approximately 2 kilograms of heroin worth several crores in the drug market from Bus Stand area here today.

A police officer said that this is the first major recovery of the year in the Jammu District.
According to him, Showqat Ali and his wife Salima Biwi of Jand Village in Amritsar were arrested with the consignment from General Bus Stand area around 10:30 am today during naka checking by a team led by SHO Bus Stand, Inspector Vikas Dogra under the supervision of SDPO City North, Devinder Singh Bandral and SP North, Shivam Siddharth.
The consignment delivered from Amritsar, Punjab, was meant to be distributed among the local suppliers in Jammu District to further distribute it among the local youth, the police officer said.
The accused couple has been arrested and booked in case FIR number 33/2024 Under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bus Stand and further investigation taken up.
