KATHUA, Apr 16: Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for doing nothing for the people of Kathua district except giving hollow slogans.
Addressing an election campaign rally in support of Vikramaditya Singh-Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Kathua -Udhampur-Doda constituency, Badal said that Narendra Modi lured people of the country in the name of fake promises. He criticized the Modi dispensation for not fulfilling any of its pre-poll promises.
“The Narendra Modi Government had made big promises before coming to power in 2014. It had promised to bring back black money stashed in foreign countries within 30 days of coming to power and deposit Rs 15 lakh each in people’s accounts but nothing of that sort has happened,” Badal said and called for concerted efforts to strengthen secular forces in order to unseat the BJP at the Centre.
Accusing the BJP of having failed on all fronts, Vijay Inder Singla, Minister for PWD and Information Technology (IT), Punjab, said that people were eagerly awaiting to give the party a befitting reply for all its acts of betrayal and subterfuge.
“Whereas the BJP and its cheer leaders continued to give tall slogans of development and growth, the delivery on the ground was conspicuously missing. And while the BJP rule pushed the entire Jammu region to terminal decline, the rural areas suffered most in terms of development. With hardly any schemes having been announced for the rural areas, the already existing and ongoing schemes faced the worst neglect during the saffron rule,” Singla said.
Vikramaditya Singh, who also addressed the gathering, lambasted BJP for totally neglecting the people of Kathua district in every sector. He asserted that there was no single recruitment of teachers and masters under SSA and ReT in last four years and further the ones who have completed more than 5 years of tenure under ReT are awaiting regularization.
“Same is the story under NRHM scheme,” Singh said, adding that BJP Government has miserably failed to carry forward the development works started under the Congress regime.
During tenure of regime of Congress, Kathua got seven degree colleges, University campus, medical college whereas on the contrary in BJP tenure the Government even has failed to expedite work on such projects and no new announcement was made, he said.
“It’s time to hit the last nail in BJP’s coffin, Vote for Congress Party, vote for change,” Singh said, adding that Congress by way of its pro-people policies is the only viable alternative for the people of the State.
