KATHUA, July 27: Keeping aside “ One Nation, One Tax’ directive of the Central Government, the Punjab Mining department in connivance with the Punjab Police and influential Mining mafia, is illegally harassing the J&K Mining Industrialists/stone- crusher owners and not allowing them to sell their finished goods (gravel) in Punjab.
Such an incident of high-handedness on the part of Punjab Police and Mining Officer Pathankot was witnessed at the entry point of Punjab at Madhopur when 12 Tippers loaded with finished mining material with valid bills and A-Form, were stopped by Punjab Police this evening and then seized on the direction of Mining Officer of Pathankot.
Some stone crusher owners along with some Mining staff from Kathua rushed to Madhopur and had heated arguments with the Punjab Mining staff and Police but the seized vehicles were not released.
Later, talking to media-persons at Kathua, stone crusher owner Maqsood Choudhary, Sarveshwar Singh and others strongly condemned the role of Punjab Police and Pathankot Mining officer Gagan Kumar to harass the J&K Stone Crusher Industry and stop the movement of finished building material as sand, gravel and stone loaded Tippers to Punjab. They revealed that they have valid bill’s with GST and A- form issued by J&K Mining Deptt and under load 12 Tipper were stopped at Madhopur with the objection raised by Panchayat Mining officer as illegal movement of Tipper under the pressure of Punjab Mining mafia, which did not want the entry of J&K Stone Crusher Industry in Punjab.
They said that the transportation of mining material is going on for the last over one month under valid documents. But today Punjab Mining officer along with Punjab Police seized our 12 Tippers. It seems that Punjab Policemen at Madhopur and Pathankote Mining officer are operating in connivance with the Mining Mafia for their vested interests. They decided to lodge their strong protest with the Punjab Chief Secretary and also meet DC Kathua in this direction.
They said even some of Kathua stone crushers have contract with Railway Deptt to supply the material in Punjab areas. The Punjab Govt ignores all the rules and regulations and discouraged the entry of Tippers loaded with mining material. They told that even a confirmation letter from District Mining Officer Kathua, Bodh Raj was mailed to Mining officer Pathankot to confirm the genuine Crusher Industry having genuine material but the Punjab Police and Mining Department is not ready to listen any legal plea.
