Punjab resident arrested with poppy straw

JAMMU, Jan 28: Pacca Danga police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a Punjab based person and recovered poppy straw from his possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Pacca Danga Police Station laid a naka at Manda and intercepted a tempo traveller.
During checking, police recovered 9 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of a passenger and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh, son of Balvir Singh, a resident of Balachaur, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 13/18 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Pacca Danga Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Pacca Danga SI Dheeraj Nagpal arrested the accused under the supervision of SDPO City Varun Jandial, SP City Dr Vinod Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
