Punjab resident arrested with poppy straw

RAMBAN, Dec 14: A Punjab resident has been arrested along with 15 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka near Cafeteria Morh and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB13AF-9939, which was on its way to Punjab from Jammu.
During checking, police recovered 15 kilograms of poppy straw packed in polythene bags from a box beneath the apple boxes and arrested the drug peddler.
The arrested person has been identified as Salam Din, son of Khushi Mohammad, a resident of Thoi Pind Maler Kotla, Sangroor Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 201/18 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused person at Police Station Ramban and investigation has been started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in smuggling of narcotics.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
