JAMMU, Nov 26: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu organized its fortnightly literary meet at Tagore Academy, Rani Talab, Digiana, Jammu today.
S. Kanwal Kashmiri, a well known Punjabi short story writer, hailing from Kashmir, presided over the meet. S. Didar Singh, a well known Hindi and Punjabi short story writer of Jammu was the chief guest on this occasion.
Dr. Monojit, president, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu welcomed all the guests and writers. Resham Kaur Resham, Jang S. Verman, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, Charanjeet Singh, Harjit Singh Uppal, Amar Singh Kuka, Piara Singh Dhanjal, Rahi Simbalpuria, Bikramjit Singh Vicky and others attended the meeting. The writers presented ghazals, poems and literary articles in the meeting.
Some of the decisions were also taken with the permission of the committees. It was decided that the Association with masses should be ascertained in the interest of spreading the literature to the masses. It was decided that book exhibitions will be organized during family functions as well as religious congregations.
It was also decided that seminars on the Punjabi writers should be conducted and the senior most and aged writers should be given priority in this respect. Thirdly it was decided to maintain referral collection of Punjabi books in the libraries so that the scholars might get benefit of it. It was also decided that a directory of Punjabi writers of Jammu and Kashmir State. The target for its publication has been fixed as June, 2018.
