JAMMU, Dec 6: The Committee of Legislative Assembly constituted to examine the cause of alarming increase in the deaths of patients in SKIMS, Srinagar and SMGS Hospital (Pediatrics) on Thursday suggested the purchase of critical care ambulances so that the trauma accidents can be avoided.
The Committee, which met under the chairmanship of MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia here today, discussed and reviewed the medicare and diagnostic facilities available in SKIMS, Srinagar, SMGS, Hospital (Pediatrics) Jammu and other primary health institutions of Jammu division besides referral cases were also discussed.
Legislators, Jugal Kishore, Aijaz Ahmad Jan, Ashok Kumar, Ch. Zulfikar Ali, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, Durga Dass and Charanjit Singh gave their valuable suggestions for the improvement of the working system. The Committee stressed upon the Health and Medical Education Department (H&ME) authorities to ensure supply of medicine facilities in all health institutions of the State. The Committee also asked the concerned to ensure availability of fluids in all the health institutions of Rajouri and Poonch districts.
It also directed the Commissioner/Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department M. K. Dwivedi to take disciplinary action against those Suppliers who did not supply drugs well in time.
The Committee appreciated over all working of Health and Medical Education Department. However, it directed the concerned to improve the referral cases.
Earlier, the Commissioner/ Secretary, H&ME briefed the committee about the achievements registered by the department.
Among others, Director SKIMS, Soura, Director Health Services Kashmir, Director Health Services Jammu, Medical Superintendentent SMGS, Jammu, Medical Superintend SMHS Srinagar and all Chief Medical Officers of Jammu division besides senior officers of Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
