JAMMU, Jan 9: Purnima Sharma, spokesperson BJP J&K and former Deputy Mayor Jammu, strongly criticized National Conference (NC) president, Dr. Farooq Abdullah for his baseless allegations against the BJP-led Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). She emphasized that the BJP has brought unprecedented development and transformation to Jammu, setting benchmarks for progress and governance.
Purnima accompanied by Balbir Ram Rattan, spokesperson, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, media secretary, and Rajneesh Jain incharge Department of Publications were addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, here, today.
Highlighting the achievements under the BJP-led JMC, Purnima credited the leadership for turning Jammu into a Smart City, with projects aimed at urban development, improved infrastructure, and citizen-friendly initiatives.
During her tenure as Deputy Mayor of Jammu, significant strides were made in transforming the city, she said.
The Tawi River front Development Project, inspired by the Sabarmati Riverfront in Gujarat, is being developed to promote tourism and serve as a recreational hub under the Smart City initiative.
A walkway along the banks of the Ranbir Canal, enhancing accessibility and offering a serene space for citizens, has been developed as part of urban beautification efforts.
Diversion of the nallah starting from Bahu Fort to Channi and covering other areas under a comprehensive Sewerage Treatment Project, addressing sanitation and water management shows the BJP’s commitment for development.
Development of a vertical garden under the city flyover, providing an aesthetic and eco-friendly enhancement to urban spaces are other achievements of BJP led JMC.
She said deployment of modern machinery for cleaning Jammu city, ensuring higher standards of cleanliness and hygiene establishment of open gyms in all wards of Jammu city, promoting health and fitness for all residents is the success story of BJP led JMC.
Installation of over 60,000 street lights, significantly improving illumination and safety across the city, implementation of the Gandola Project connecting Peer Kho to Bahu Fort, boosting connectivity and tourism are other achievements, she added.
