SAMBA, Nov 22: Bari Brahmana police arrested a purse snatcher and ten gamblers.
As per police sources, yesterday a written complaint was lodged by Anju Bala, wife of Shamsher Singh of Smailpur with Police Station Bari Brahmana stating that one unknown person snatched her purse containing Rs 4,000 cash, 2 silver bangles, bank passbook, Aadhaar Card and some other important documents.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 209/17 under Section 382 RPC was registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Police Station Bari Brahmana arrested the snatcher within two hours and recovered the purse from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Mangal Singh alias Manga, son of Kuldeep Singh of Panja Karyal tehsil Aanala district Amritsar, Punjab, at present Railway Station Bari Brahmana.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Meanwhile, acting on specific information, a team from Bari Brahmana Police Station conducted raid at Telli Basti and apprehended ten gamblers along with Rs 19200 stake money and playing cards.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rakesh Ahirwal, son of Jugla Ahirwal, Manoj Sain, son of Jagdish Sain, Bablesh, son of Shadi Lal, Param Lal, son of Bindravan, Vinod Ahirwal, son of Kailash, Bablu, son of Jagula, Nupinder, son of Nathu Singh, Bajiinder Panday, son of Sudesh Panday, Hans Raj, son of Barilal and Jagdish, son of Bala Parshad, all residents of Madhya Pradesh, presently residing at Telli Basti, Bari Brahmana.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Bari Brahmana Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bari Brahmana Inspector Mahesh Sharma made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana Usmaan Choudhary and SSP Samba Anil Magotra.
