JAMMU, July 22: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) highlighting misappropriation of food grains meant for general public, Division Bench of State High Court comprising First Puisine Judge Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice BS Walia today directed the concerned authorities to pursue recovery proceedings and take all necessary steps for proper implementation of the public distribution system.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, G S Chib, Director CAPD Jammu, who was present in the court, submitted that various remedial measures have been taken by the department to ensure that public distribution system is tuned and all efforts are being made to recover amounts which have been swindled by some of the CAPD employees.
“In view of submission of G S Chib, Director CAPD Jammu, the instant Public Interest Litigation is closed along with connected MPs”, the DB said and directed the officer to pursue the recovery proceedings and take all necessary steps for proper implementation of the public distribution system and submit a final report in this regard preferably within one month.
