Put draft electoral rolls of ULBs on website: Cong

JAMMU, Mar 5: Congress party has demanded that the draft electoral rolls for the Urban Local Bodies be put on the website for facilitating the general public to apply for corrections and objections, so that the discrepancies in the voter lists are rectified and the process is made more transparent and hassle free for the common people.
This suggestion was put forth by the Congress party while participating in the meeting convened by the Electoral Registration Officer for Municipal Corporation Jammu today in connection with ongoing process for the revision and correction of rolls for the forthcoming Municipal elections.
The Congress leaders pointed out that large scale mistakes and discrepancies are usually noticed in the final electoral rolls, hence it would be desirable that the draft rolls are put on website for inspection of general public so that they can approach for necessary corrections and rectifications.
The Congress representatives also suggested that data regarding the proposed rotation of reserved seats be also notified, so that the genuineness of the exercise is noted by the concerned people and objections if any sought by the Election Authority are properly submitted accordingly, as per the latest updated data ward wise. It was also suggested that to facilitate the public the concerned BLOs as well as the supervisors are located at identified location within their respective area of jurisdiction.
Ravinder Sharma, Chief spokesman of PCC, Anil Chopra president DCC Jammu Urban and general secretaries DCC RK Khajuria, Madan Lal Malagar and Gourav Chopra represented the Congress party in the meeting.
