MOSCOW, Jan 27: Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the Ukrainian government on Saturday of killing civilians, while its backers in Europe promote anti-Russia sentiment.
“In the Baltic states, tens of thousands are declared’subhuman;’ they are being deprived of the most basic rights and persecuted. The regime in Kiev praises Hitler’s accomplices, the SS men, and uses terror against the undesirables. It continued the barbaric shelling of peaceful cities and towns, killing the elderly, women and children. A number of European countries have adopted Russophobia as their state policy,” he said.
Putin spoke at an unveiling ceremony near the Russian city of St. Petersburg where a memorial was set up to pay tribute to Soviet civilians killed during World War Two. The ceremony was timed to the 80th anniversary of the end of the 872-day siege of Leningrad by Nazi German forces. (UNI)
