KATHUA, Nov 5: Private Schools Association Kathua today organised a significant convention here to highlight the pressing issues faced by the small private schools in the District.
While Ajay Gupta, President, J&K Private Schools Association was the chief guest of the function Sat Paul Mansotra, Sanjeev Luthra, Deepak Handa, and Lal Chand Gandotra were the guests of the honour and Rachpal Singh, the newly elected District President of Kathua, orchestrated the event.
A statement said that more than 154 representatives from urban, rural, and Pahari areas of Kathua demonstrated the collective concern for the challenges encountered by small private schools.
The participants shared their grievances, highlighting issues such as Government’s perceived indifference towards these institutions. They raised concerns about the fee-fixation committee’s arbitrary methods in determining fees and the prolonged delay in granting recognition to schools that submitted their affiliation files offline before July 2021.
The absence of orientation programs for private school teachers to align with the New Education Policy (NEP-2020) and the Students Assessment Evaluation Scheme-2022 drew attention as well.
Ajay Gupta emphasized the failure of authorities in establishing a single window clearance system for schools operating in remote areas of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
He said that repeated pleas for the training for the private school teachers, mostly educated, yet unemployed, have been fallen on the deaf ears of the concerned officials.
In a collective appeal, all the speakers and representatives beseeched the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and address the legitimate concerns of these small private school owners, whose services extended not only to urban centres but also to the farthest corners of the J&K, making their struggle even more poignant.
Notable attendees at the event included Naresh Kumar, Lavanya Khullar, Vivek Mehra,
Subash Kerni, Mala Sharma, Ramparkash, Chain Singh, Gaurav Charak, Vishal Singh, Shabir Malik, and others.
