Pvt schools urge LG to intervene for affiliation, access to portal

JAMMU, July 20: J&K Private Schools Association, Jammu has appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Secretary School Education Alok Kumar for their personal intervention to address the issue with regard to affiliation of the schools and their access to the official portal.
Talking to media persons, here today, central body members of the Association lamented that despite recognition by the School Education Department, J&K Board of School Education was delaying affiliation of a number of such schools for no reasons and not giving them access to the official portal for migration of student.
“Despite fulfillment of all formalities and norms besides depositing the fee, status of these schools has been placed in the de- affiliated/ pending category by the JKBOSE while online access has also been denied to these institutions,” said Ajay Gupta, President of the Association.
He added that due to the non availability of online access to these schools, they are unable to upload or to approve migration/eligibility of all such students who want to migrate or who want to seek admission in other schools.
General Secretary of PSA, Sat Paul Mansotra said that the Government has granted recognition to the school till ending March 2027, 2028, 2029 but JKBOSE is reluctant to grant affiliation to these schools on the basis of their recognition.
Ajay Gupta appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to intervene into the matter and save these schools from alleged harassment and exploitation.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Deepak Handa (Sr Vice President), Ajay Singh, Sanjeev Luthra, Gaurav Charak, Dr Madan Mohan, Vineet Gupta, Vishal Singh, Rajat Kesar, Deep Dayal, Shabir Malik, Naresh Kumar, Romesh Gupta, Bodh Raj, Rajeev Jasrotia, Vishal Jamwal and Thomas Omman.
Meanwhile, J&K Board of School Education today issued a handout stating that the necessary affiliation orders shall be issued soon in favour of the institutions across J&K, which have been recommended by the Affiliation Committee in the meeting held on July 1, 2024.
“These institutions shall be provided sufficient time to apply for the Board related services as per norms and will be given fresh fee payment timeline starting with normal prescribed fee,” reads the statement.
