SRINAGAR, Dec 24: People’s Welfare Society, (PWS), Private Schools Association (PSA) Kashmir and other organizations today made a fervent appeal to Lt Governor, J&K, Manoj Sinha to grant the permission to private schools functioning in the UT of J&K on the same pattern as was done in case of Good will Schools.
In a joint statement People’s Welfare Society chief, Mir Ghulam Rasool, Private Schools Association Kashmir chairman, G A War and social activist Mohammad Amin while showing their satisfaction over the decision taken by the Lt Governor for Good will Schools said the same analogy be applied to other private schools in the UT who have served the education sector in the tough times of turmoil when Government schools have totally become defunct due to turmoil and daily bandhs and strikes.
They said the private schools played a yeoman’s role during the time of turmoil and saved the youth from falling prey to drug addiction and other anti social activities by imparting quality education through their schools.
They demanded that the private schools run by social organizations or NGOs are also charging a nominal fee from the students and they are not in a position to purchase the land on exorbitant rates. They appealed the LG to allot the land to these educational institutions on lease basis by fixing the installments for making the payment.
