Jammu, Apr 18: Pradesh Youth Congress activists staged strong protest demonstration  against the Modi Government and  BJP-PDP alliance in the State for its utter failure in all fronts and mishandling the case of Masrat Alam and allowing him to raise anti-India tirade.
Uma Shanker Pandey, secretary  All India Youth Congress, incharge J&K affairs, PYC  president Pranav Shagotra and  Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha president Satish Sharma were leading the protest.
Hundreds of activist of Youth Congress assembled at Press Club Jammu  in the morning and marched towards Tawi bridge. They sat on the bridge and disrupted the movement of traffic for some time. They also burnt the effigy of Prime Minister and registered their protest in a befitting manner.
Speaking on the occasion Uma Shanker Pandey severely criticized BJP-PDP for playing with the sentiments of the nationalist forces and indulging in appeasement of Separatist elements in the State. He recalled the Kandhar episode when the then Home Minister himself travelled with Hafiz Sayed and set him free along with other hard core militants  and now they have  created a drama of Masrat  Alam. The Govt has set him free and  re-arrested only after the strong protest by the right thinking people of the Country. It is not understood why Modi Govt was having a soft corner for the  anti-national forces and the people of the country have doubt over the capacity of BJP to maintain security and integrity of the country.
Pranav Shagotra in his address said that  BJP led by  Narendra  Modi has been exposed for its double standards. He criticized State and  Central Governments for providing opportunity to Masrat Alam to challenge the sovereignty of the country in Kashmir and outside Kashmir and said that the public anger across the length & breadth of the country has forced the Governments to act, but their approach towards anti-national forces and the hollowness of the J&K policy of the present dispensations have been exposed. He also criticized Modi Govt for its anti-farmer policies and said that  due to this reason the Central Government is making all out efforts to pass  its Land Acquisition Bill to  benefit the big corporate houses.
PYC leader  alleged that  BJP and PDP are the two sides of the same coin. BJP exploits the sentiments of Hindus and PDP exploits  Muslims for getting their mandate and they have no policy or programme for the people. The police dragged protesting workers and cleared the road. There was mild can charge by the cops during road clearance.
Prominent among those who participated in the protest included   Satish Sharma,  Charanjit Singh, Rajan Sharma, Paramjit Singh, Amir Saroori,  Jatinder Chib, Khushwant Singh, Rashid Malik, Pankaj Sharma, Hoshiyar Singh Chib, Sandeep Sharma, Vijay Tagotra, Ricky Dalotra, Prikshit Shagotra, Anoop Gupta, Gurvinder Singh, Daljot Singh, Irfan Khan and  Ramreek Singh.
