PYC concludes agitation with 73rd Amendment announcement

JAMMU, Feb 10: State president of Pradesh Youth Congress, Shahnawaz Choudhary today said that Youth Congress has decided to terminate its agitation with the announcement of implementation of provisions of 73rd Amendment, providing powers to Panchayats in the State.
Addressing a press conference here today, the PYC president Shahnawaz Choudhary said that the Youth Congress leadership has decided to terminate its on-going agitation for the last one and half year with the announcement of 73rd Amendment by State Cabinet. The PYC chief who was accompanied by vice president Pranav Shagotra, and general secretaries Manjit Singh Jatt and Abid Kashmiri stated that it was historic decision and the people of the State will be immensely benefitted with it.
The PYC leader said that decentralization of powers was the dream of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and this is the decentralization of powers from Secretariat to the village Panchayats. It is the biggest victory of the people of the State after independence, he added.
The PYC leaders said that they launched struggle and even came out on the roads, staged protest dharnas, gave representations to the Government several times seeking implementation of 73rd Amendment. The agitation at district and even block level were held for the same. He said Rahul Gandhi was the guiding force behind and it could be possible with his support besides PCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and other senior Party leaders. They also congratulated to the Sarpanchs and Panchs for this great victory.
