JAMMU, July 30: Pradesh Youth Congress general secretary, Ricky Dalotra today cautioned the JPDCL/PDD authorities in Jammu to provide un-interrupted power supply to the public or face agitation.
Talking to media-persons at Congress office here today, Dalotra who is also office charge (hqrs), said that people of Jammu are facing worst power curtailment during these hot summer days. Despite assurances of the LG’s administration and the JPDCL authorities, the unscheduled power curtailment is being imposed in the areas where Smart Meters have been installed.
PYC leader alleged that public is being befooled and made to pay inflated power bills ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 7000 and even more per month. He said the consumers who were paying power bills during Congress regime amounting to Rs 300 or 400 per month are now being forced to pay more than Rs 2000 to 3000 bills.
He said the poor people are unable to pay such huge amount. He said many power connections have been snapped by the field staff for non-payment of hefty bills. The study of the students is also suffering. The poor working class people are unable to have good sleep during night in the absence of electricity supply.
He referred to the Bahu Fort area of Jammu where power remained suspended last night for long time and was restored only after people held protest. He warned the PDD authorities to improve power supply in Jammu or face massive agitation and ‘Gherao’ of the offices of the senior officers by the Youth Congress workers in coming days.
