PYC flags off Sarpanchs, Panchs on study tour

JAMMU, Jan 13: Pradesh Youth Congress led by its president flagged off a delegation of Sarpanchs and Panchs to study Panchayati Raj system in Maharashtra and Kerala.
Talking to media persons at the ceremony, Mr Choudhary congratulated the Sarpanchs and Panchs who were short listed for the tour to the two Indian States. He said Panchayati Raj model is the best model in the whole country and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has also made high level committee to make amendments in J&K Panchayati Raj Act. He claimed that State will also have amended Panchayati Raj Act shortly.
The PYC leader said that Sarpanchs and Panchs who are part of this delegation will become the role model for the Panchayati Raj system in J&K. The delegation members will interact the Sarpanchs and Panchs of these two States and share their experiences and learn the system of running Panchayati Raj there.
The PYC leadership also condemned the killings of Sarpanch in Sopore and firing on another woman Panch in same area in Kashmir. The leaders alleged that despite, repeated requests to the Chief Minister, the Sarpanchs and Panchs have not been provided security.
State vice president Parnav Shagotra, PYC president Udhampur-Doda, Pankaj Basotra, State general secretaries Manjit Singh Jatt and Abid Kashmiri were also present.
