PYC gears up campaign for 73rd, 74th amendments

KATHUA, Aug 18: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has geared up its campaign for seeking implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act.
Commencing this campaign from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, the PYC leaders submitted memoranda to DC Kathua and Tehsildars/ SDM Billawar, Basohli, Bani and Hiranagar for further handing over to the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
At Kathua, the PYC delegation led by IYC secretary and incharge J&K Chetan Chouhan took out a rally and then submitted memorandum to DC Kathua, Zahida Khan. PYC president Shah Nawaz Choudhary, State vice president Pranav Shagotra, general secretary Manjit Singh Jatt and Lok Sabha president from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda, Pankaj Basotra accompanied. They stressed that without making these amendments, the Panchayats can not be given full powers.
They said AICC general secretary and in charge All India Youth Congress Rahul Gandhi was committed for providing full powers to Panchayats so that democracy could be seen flourishing at the grass root level.
Other PYC/ DYC leaders present on the occasion included Vinay Sharma, Paramjit Singh, Ajatshatru Sharma, Anisha Jyoti, Pankaj Sharma DYC president Kathua, Rajeev Gupta, Kewel Krishan and Anil Slaria.
