JAMMU, June 14: ‘Panchayat Chalo Abhiyan’ of Pradesh Youth Congress reached Raipur- Domana Assembly segment of district Jammu today.
Commencing from R S Pura under the leadership of State vice president of PYC Pranav Shagotra, the programme aimed at creating awareness among the masses and Panchayat members, was organized at Domana, about 12 kms from here in which besides Panches, Sarpanches, PYC office bearers and youth activists of the party participated.
Ravi Kant Seth, PYC Assembly president organized this function along with his team. Mr Shagotra while addressing the gathering, highlighted various aspects of the programme and said that Panchayats can function in better way after bringing 73rd and 74th amendment in Panchayati Raj Act. He expressed solidarity with the elected Panches and Sarpanches and assured full support from the PYC.
Mr Shagotra welcomed the decision of the Government to release one lakh rupees for each Panchayat and urged the Government that this amount was too small and more financial assistance be provided to the Panchayats.
Former NSUI president Dr Rashid Choudhary also addressed the gathering and said that Sarpanches and Panches should not get exploited at the hands of anti-national elements. Referring to the scenario in Kashmir, Dr Choudhary said Chief Minister should intervene into the matter.
