Speaking on the occasion, Shagotra charged BJP leadership with murdering border residents for cheap politics. He lamented that border residents are being butchered like animals but BJP leadership is shamelessly indulged into dirty politics on human lives. “While as BJP led NDA Government at Centre is least concerned over lives and property of the people of Jammu region, Coalition Government of J&K has already left people of Jammu region at the mercy of Pakistan and other anti-national elements”, PYC president regretted.
“With a hope that the self-proclaimed nationalist BJP would solve their problems once for all, border residents had voted in favour of the Saffron Party in 2014 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections but all their hopes were dashed now”, Shagotra said, adding, “What to say of minimizing our woes, BJP led Government at the Centre has rather made border residents as ‘sitting ducks’ to its political experiments”.
PYC demanded martyrs status for border population who get killed while promoting agriculture under risk to their lives and compensation at par with the persons killed & injured due to the militancy and stressed that bulletproof critical care ambulances be kept in the threatened areas while the Public Health Centre, Arnia needs up gradation with sufficient stock of medicines.
Shagotra also demanded allotment of alternative land at safer places, construction of community and individual bunkers, providing bullet proof vehicles to evacuate villagers at the time of firing, reservation to IB dwellers at par with residents of LoC and special recruitment drive for the unemployed youth of border areas.
