JAMMU, July 20: Youth Congress held a protest demonstration at Hari Singh Park here against Jammu terror attacks and delegating of extra powers to LG, under the leadership of Maan Singh Rathore, Incharge JKPYC and Aakash Bharat, president JKPYC.
While addressing the media MS Rathore criticized the Govt for the failure of their agencies and attacks. He said, “In last 40 days, 11 to 12 terror attacks were carried out in J&K in which more than a dozen soldiers were martyred.
The worsening situation in the region is very concerning. This BJP led administration has failed on every front. We need to launch a full scale war against terrorism to protect the lives of the army, security forces, police and civilians.
He added that full fledged Statehood status should be given to J&K without any delay and before Assembly elections.
Aakash Bharat lambasted the Central Government against the amendments passed by the Department of Home Affairs, the Lieutenant Governor has been bestowed with the power of deciding the matters related to transfer and posting of the Administrative Secretaries and cadre posts of All India Services officers and proposals related to public order, All India Service and ACB.
This notification has given arbitrary power to the Lieutenant Governor to interfere into the working of Government, elected by the people of Jammu & Kashmir, and also shows that BJP Govt at the Centre has no intention of restoring the Statehood at the earliest as directed by the Supreme Court of India.
”The draconian order passed by the Home Ministry is against the interests of people and against the principles of democracy. We strongly oppose this move of Central Government. Thus the amendments passed are part of a continued systematic disempowerment of people of J&K and is another move to disempower and humiliate people of J&K, Bharat added.
He termed the move as the flagrant abuse of power designed to stifle the democratic voice of the people.
The protest programme was also attended by Paramjeet Singh Pammi (IYC Coordinator), Manish Tewari (IYC Incharge Social Media), vice presidents Divyansh Jamwal, Amit Sayal, Adv Ranjodh Singh, State general secretaries PYC Anirudh Sawhney, Sushil Bhagat, Firoz Khan and Rahul Tandon, and In Charge SuperShe J&K, Sameena Kausar, Chairman Social Media Tanveer Singh, Ricky Dalotra – I/C PYC Office Jammu, PYC/DYC/ AYC office bearers besides others.
When the protesting PYC activists were proceeding towards main road near Jewel Chowk, about fifty of them including their leaders were arrested and detained by police at DPL, Gandhinagar. However, they were released after some time.
