JAMMU, Jan 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Youth Congress today staged a demonstration here to condemn the killing of a 25-year-old Sikh man in Peshawar and vandalism of Gurdwara Nankana Sahib along with stone-pelting at pilgrims in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
Led by Aijaz Choudhary, J&K Youth Congress’ vice president, the activists assembled near exhibition ground and raised slogans against incidents of persecution of Sikhs in Pakistan. Today’s protest was held on the directions of J&K PYC president Uday Chib. Carrying Congress flags, Youth Congress activists also burnt effigies of Pakistani leaders.

PYC president, on the directions of National leadership staged protest in front of Pakistan Embassy to mark resentment against the attack on Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Lahore.
Choudhary strongly condemned attack on Nankana Sahib Gurdwara, the birth place of Guru Nanak Dev, in Pakistan. He sought stern action against miscreants who indulged in the desecration of the holy Gurudwara and attacked members of minority Sikh community.
Raising anti-Pakistan slogans, they demanded protection of minorities in Pakistan. “We are angry and sad over what happened in Nankana Sahib. They attacked Gurdwara and Sikhs. One Sikh youth was killed in Pakistan. We condemn it,” Choudhary told reporters here.
“The attack on the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara is a blot upon the principles of humanity and those of religion,” he said. “Government of Pakistan is enjoined to take all measures to protect and preserve the sanctity of the holy Nankana Sahib Gurudwara,” he said and held the Pakistani government directly responsible for the incident.
“On one hand, Pakistan is professing to open Gurdwaras for Sikh pilgrims but on the other, they are attacking Gurdwaras and killing Sikhs,” he said. Those involved in such crimes should be punished, he said, adding that Pakistan must protect Sikhs and minorities living there.
