PYC takes out rally, submits memorandum to DC

JAMMU, Aug 22: Demanding implementation of 73rd and 74th Amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act, Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) today took out a rally, which passed through various bazars and culminated at DC office.
PYC activists assembled at Press Club, marched towards DC office and submitted memorandum to DC, demanding implementation of 73rd and 74th Amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act at par with rest of the country.
Chetan Chauhan, IYC secretary, incharge J&K, disclosed that many more rallies and protests will continue until the powers to panchayats were not granted by Government.
Shah Nawaz Choudhary, president PYC, in his address said that panchayats without powers are toothless and defunct, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Pranav Shagotra, vice president, demanded that Panchayati Raj Act in J&K should be empowered by bringing 73rd and 74th Amendments.  He said that PYC would continue its stride until the panchayats in J&K were not fully empowered.
Satish Sharma, president Lok Sabha Jammu-Poonch, also addressed the rally and stressed for empowerment of panchayats in the State.
Among others present were Manjit Singh Jatt, general secretary, RS Pathania, general secretary, Abid Kashmiri, general secretary PYC incharge Jammu district, Sandeep Sharma, Vivek Gupta, Praveen Singh, Neeraj Kumar, Rahul Sharma, etc.
