DODA, Oct 18: `Yuva Akrosh Yatra’, a mass movement launched by Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) against the new recruitment policy of the BJP-PDP Government and in support of the unsettled issues of thousands of daily wagers and other educated unemployed youth, today reached at district headquarters Doda, where hundreds of youth joined the on-foot march in the town.
The grand rally, led by PYC president Pranav Shagotra, Rajvir Manhas general secretary, Rashid Malik LYC vice president, started from the City Chowk here and marched to different parts of the city. Sumit Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, Arif Gatoo ex-DYC president, Waseem Jalal and Waseem Raja also joined the Yatra and addressed the youth activists of the Party. The Congress leaders lauded the role played by Youth Congress in highlighting the issues of youth of the State.
Addressing the gathering of youth, Pranav Shagotra said that the BJP exploited the sentiments of the youth for vote bank politics and then forgot to give them anything in return including the employment. In place of giving more employment, this Government has discontinued the daily wagers and NYC volunteers. “We demand permanent employment for these sections and also urge the Government to scrap the new recruitment policy,” PYC chief said.
He further said that BJP has made a complete sell out for power and this is the worst kind of political cheating, especially with the people of Jammu region.
Tomorrow, the “Yuva Akrosh Yatra” will move to the district Kishtwar and PYC chief along with other leaders will visit the family of NYC activist (Raj Kumar) who lost his life due to participation in hunger strike for many days at Partap Park, Srinagar. This will complete the first phase of Yatra in the ten districts of Jammu region.
