Srinagar, Sept 29: The Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), G N Qasba, today mislead the Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, on illegal constructions post floods.
When asked about the massive illegal constructions in Srinagar after floods during press conference of Chief Secretary in Srinagar today, Qasba said that the SMC carried out demolition of illegal constructions in Regal Lane, on Residency Road.
However, when the Qasba issued statement on demolition of illegal structures, the shopkeepers in Regal Lane, Forest Lane and Abi Guzar Lane were busy in raising concrete structures.
Locals said that SMC officials are hand in glove with these shopkeepers who are taking advantage of the situation and are indulging in illegal constructions. “The SMC officials are in hand in glove with these violators and flood is just a cover”, said a shopkeeper at Residency road.
