Srinagar, Oct 1: Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom was today elected the president of Kashmir Bar Association for the 20th time.
Although the voting for electing the Bar executive body, including the president, is scheduled on October 4, however, Qayoom remained unopposed as nobody filed a nomination against him.
The last day for filing the nomination papers for the post of the Bar president, vice-president, general secretary, treasurer and joint secretary was today but as per Election Commission J&K High Court Bar Association statement, nobody filed nomination against Qayoom.
“For the post of Vice-president, two nominations from Ajaz Ahamd Bedar and Mushtaq Ahmad Dar were received. For the post of General Secretary, two nominations from G N Shaheen and Mohmmad Ashraf Bhat, for joint secretary, three nominations from Adil Asmi, Ajaz Ahmad Dar and Bilal Ahmad Bhat were received, while for Treasurer, three nominations from Bilal Ahmad Wani, Sameer Ahmad Wani and Surat Shakeel Batkoo were received,” the statement reads.
