Srinagar, Oct 4: Mian Abdul Qayoom was re-elected as President while Aijaz Bedar is the new Vice-President of the J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar.
The elections for choosing the executive body of J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar were held today.
Mian Abdul Qayoom won the elections for the coveted post 20th time, unopposed as nobody had filed nomination against him.
As per Election Commission of the Bar, for the president’s post only one candidate Mian Abdul Qayoom filed his nomination form and as such was declared as uncontested President of the J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar.
Aijaz Bedar was elected as Vice President who defeated Mushtaq Ahmad Dar by 539 votes while Muhammad Ashraf Bhat secured 446 votes and was elected the Secretary General of the Bar.
Similarly, Adil Asimi defeated Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Aijaz Ahmad Dhar, and secured 336 votes, while Bilal Ahmad Wani secured 348 votes and defeated Sameer Ahmad Wani and Surat Shakeel.
Asimi will hold the charge of Joint Secretary and Bilal will hold the charge of treasurer.
