JAMMU, Apr 9: To commemorate the upcoming 134th Birth Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, several educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir organized a variety of activities.
The NSS Unit of Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu organized a series of thought-provoking events under the guidance of Principal Prof Sameru Sharma. The event series included a vibrant debate competition on the theme “Role of Constitution in Democracy”. In addition, a creative poster-making competition on the theme “Rights and Duties: Two sides of the same coin” allowed students to visually explore the delicate balance between individual rights and societal responsibilities.
GGM Science College, Jammu organized an insightful quiz competition focusing on life, work, and lasting legacy of Dr Ambedkar as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. A large number of NSS students participated in the event with enthusiasm and interest. The quiz featured questions covering Dr Ambedkar’s academic journey, social reform initiatives, and his contribution to the making of modern India. Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College, addressed the gathering and stated that Dr Ambedkar’s life has inspired generations.
In sequel to celebration of birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar, NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra organized a documentary screening on life and history of Dr B R Ambedkar along with an extension lecture by Deepak Kumar, PTI on same theme. Students from all semesters participated in the event with full zeal and zest. The whole event was organized by Dr Purvaiya Hans, NSS Programme Officer under the guidance of Dr G S Rakwal, Principal of the College.
The NSS unit of GDC Khour organized an awareness lecture to commemorate birth anniversary of the architect of Indian Constitution. The resource person of the lecture was Dr Khursheed Ahangar (Lecturer in Political Science). He gave great insight on the life history and teachings of Dr Ambedkar. The event was organized by Dr Rashmi Sharma (HoD Political Science) and Prof Himanshu Khajuria, NSS PO, under the overall guidance of Prof (Dr) T K Sharma, Principal of the College.
