Qureshi discusses traffic scenario with citizens, transporters

SAMBA, Apr 17: M Fiesel Qureshi, the SSP Traffic Police Rural Jammu, today held interactions with the local citizens and transporters to discuss the traffic-related issues in the District.
As per a statement, accompanied by Javaid Iqbal Tabassam, DySP (T) Samba-Kathua, and the concerned DTI, Qureshi held meetings with representatives of various unions and organizations, including the Beopar Mandal of SIDCO area, Presidents of Public Transport, Matador, and Auto Unions at SIDCO Samba, and civil society members.
During the meetings, attendees expressed their appreciation for the J&K Traffic Police’s efforts to address issues such as overloading, rash and negligent driving, use of liquor, stunt/triple riding in two-wheelers, mobile phone usage while driving, and the implementation of a 100 percent e-challaning system.
They also raised several demands, including the opening of a cut at SIDCO Chowk Samba, installation of mirrors on the underpass road from Mansar-Chhichhi Mata temple, adequate parking space at Samba town, identified routes for e-Rakshwa vehicles, HMV diversions in Samba Bazaar, and the avoidance of wrong vehicle parking at Nud Mansar.
Qureshi assured the participants that their concerns would be addressed on a priority basis and discussed the importance of dealing strictly with traffic violators as per the provisions of the new amended Motor Vehicle Act-2019.
He emphasized the importance of wearing body worn cameras and using other issued traffic electronic gadgets while challaning, with special attention given to visible offenses such as overloading, over-speeding, drunken driving, driving without seat belts, use of mobile phones, and crash helmets.
He said the concerned challaning officers will launch joint special drives against traffic violators in their respective areas and conduct seminars/awareness camps with transporters, vehicle operators, other NGOs, NSS/NCC volunteers to educate them about traffic rules and regulations.
