JAMMU, May 29: Morning Walkers’ Association, Manda today unanimously elected Mohd Saleem Qureshi as president while Madan Sharma as chairman.
In a general body meeting of the Association held here today, the members nominated its office bearers who they decided would take up issues pertaining to development of the area with concerned authorities.
Madan Sharma was nominated as chairman of the Association while Mohd Saleem Qureshi as its president and Sham Sawhney and Dinesh Gupta as senior vice presidents.
Shishu Gandotra was nominated as general secretary, KK Choudhary senior secretary, Dr Kali Dass and Ram Dev Saraf as secretaries, Shabir Ahmad Bhat as cashier and Sunny Dua, Press secretary.
The newly constituted body in its first meeting urged upon the Administrator Auqaf to carry out some urgently required repair works at the site so that people including devotees of Peer Baba morning walkers and visitors could have an aesthetically developed place.
They said that floor tiles inside the canopy are broken, footpath is in dilapidated condition, lights installed all along the path are damaged and grill at some places worn out. There is an immediate need of repairing grill work as in coming rainy season there are chances of foundation of boundary wall at some places getting eroded.
The members also urged upon the Forest officials to develop approach areas of Peer Baba and install some benches and create view points on way from Hotel Ashok to Peer Baba.
