R D Sharma likely to be VC JU

JAMMU, Mar 12: Prof R D Sharma is likely to be appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University for a complete tenure of three years.
The entire process in this regard has been almost completed and a formal order for the appointment of Prof R D Sharma as Vice-Chancellor of JU for a tenure of three years is likely to be issued within days, authoritative sources informed the Excelsior.
Pertinent to mention that Prof Sharma is already holding the charge of VC Jammu University for the last more than four months since the then Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar had suddenly resigned from the post without assigning any reason.
In November last, the Governor had constituted a Search Committee, which invited application from the VC aspirants. After scrutiny and other formalities, 10 candidates were short-listed for interaction with the Search Committee, which finally submitted a panel of three candidates to the Governor.
According to the sources, Governor held interaction with the three finally short-listed candidates and approved the name of Prof R D Sharma as the Vice-Chancellor.
A Professor of Commerce, Prof R D Sharma is the senior most faculty members in Jammu University. He has a vast teaching, research and administrative experience at different levels. He joined teaching profession in 1980, became Reader in 1987 and Professor in 1994. He has remained Chairman of the State Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE), Rector, Kathua Campus, Head, Department of Commerce in JU, etc.
