R-Day celebrated with enthusiasm, gaiety across Kashmir Valley

SRINAGAR, Jan 27: In connection with 67th Republic Day, celebrations functions were held across the Kashmir Valley with great enthusiasm, gaiety and fervor.
The divisional level function was held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar where Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon was the chief guest, who unfurled the National Flag and took salute at march past presented by the contingents of Police, BSF, CRPF, ITBT, SSB, JKAP, IRP, Women police, Executive Police, SDRF, Fire & Emergency, Forest Protection Force, besides NCC cadets and students.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Inspector General of Police, SJM Gillani, IGP IRP, Sunil Kumar, senior officers of civil administration, Police and Paramilitary Forces besides large gathering of people attended the function.
In his Republic Day speech, Dr Samoon said that Republic Day is the most significant day in the history of the country as this is the day when people of the country gave constitution to themselves. He said that administration is putting all efforts for ensuring effective public delivery system across the Valley and no stone will be left unturned in this regard.
He said administration is giving focused attention towards education, health and other developmental sectors so that visible improvement is registered on ground and public is benefited at large. The Divisional Commissioner also emphasized on collective efforts to eradicate social evils, preservation and protection of heritage and environment. He also prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity on the occasion.
Various colourful and mesmerizing cultural programmes were presented by the students of different educational institutions besides artists of Information, Education, Youth Services & Sports and Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
Former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Member Parliament, Mehbooba Mufti and former Ministers including Nayeem Akhtar, Dr Haseeb Drabu, Asiea Naqash and others also attended the function at Bakshi Stadium.
BUDGAM: The Republic Day was also celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety at Sports Stadium Budgam here today. The Deputy Commissioner, Mir Altaf unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
BARAMULLA: The day was celebrated at District Headquarters where Deputy Commissioner, Yasha Mudgal was the chief guest who unfurled National Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Among others, DIG North, and SSP Baramulla, officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion. The Republic Day celebrations were also held at both Sub-Divisions and Tehsil headquarters in the district.
At Uri, SDM hoisted the National Flag and took salute of the march-past presented by contingents of Security Forces, Fire & Emergency Services and school children. Moreover, cultural programmes were also presented by groups of school children of various schools.
ANANTNAG: The day was celebrated with full fervor and gaiety at Govt Degree College for Boys where Deputy Commissioner Muneer-ul-Islam hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past.
A colourful march past was presented by J&K Police, CRPF, JKAP, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC Cadets and students of various schools. Scintillating cultural programmes were presented by school children and Department of Information.
At Pahalgam, the tricolour was unfurled by Sub Divisional Magistrate, who took salute and inspected the march past on the occasion.
KULGAM: The main function was held at Degree College where the senior officers of Police and Civil administration were present. Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past.
PULWAMA: The main function was held at District Police Lines where Deputy Commissioner, Niraj Kumar unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKAP, Fire & Emergency, Home Guard and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC highlighted the progress of ongoing developmental schemes and expressed satisfaction and pleasure on the performance of various departments especially School Education Department, which brought laurels for the district.
BANDIPORA: The day was celebrated with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium where Deputy Commissioner, Sajad Hussain was the chief guest who hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and school children participated in the march past.
KUPWARA: The main function was held at District Police Lines where Deputy Commissioner, Rajiv Ranjan unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of CRPF, IRP, JKAP, JKP, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past. Tributes were paid to Col Santosh on the occasion.
SHOPIAN: District Development Commissioner G M Dar unfurled the National Flag, took salute and inspected the march past presented by contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, IRP, Fire and Emergency Services, Forest Protection Force, Home Guard besides students from various educational institutions.
GANDERBAL: Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, Polce Trainin School Manigam,, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
