JAMMU : The full dress rehearsal for Republic Day parade was organised today in presence of people in this winter capital of the state.
The rehearsal was held this morning at the main venue Maulana Azad Stadium-situated in the heart of the city-amid tight security arrangements.
A senior Army Officer took salute to the march past of the participating contingents.
Thousands of school children and college girls presented colourful cultural programmes including traditional folk songs. Contingents of police, armed forces, para-military troops and civil defence took part in the march past.
First time participating women team of Dare Devils remained highlight of the rehearsal while the hi-tech gadgets and fighter planes besides other equipment were also displayed by the Army. Different tableaux displaying art, culture and tradition of the state especially on “Save Girl Child” were also appreciated by the visitors.
Tight security arrangements was made across the winter capital with additional deployment of troops and raised check points for smooth and incident free Republic Day function. Surprise checks are also being conducted in hotels and lodges as part of intensified security grid around the venue while additional check points have also been raised at various sensitive locations.
The venue has been put under siege while ‘unwanted’ movement has been restricted.
