JAMMU, Jan 1: Claiming that power-hungry BJP is only active during elections and after winning the same, its leadership conveniently preferred to go in hibernation as still there are a lot of people who have seen their former BJP MLA only in posters.
This was said by Taranjit Singh Tony, chairman of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) J&K for Administrative Engagement and Minority Affairs, and District Development Council (DDC) Member Suchetgarh while addressing gatherings during an extensive tour to R S Pura Jammu South Constituency, today.
During the whirlwind tour of the Constituency, Tony listened to the problems of the people which they were confronting since long as the former MLA belonging to BJP never bothered to even visit many areas falling in the constituency.
At the Hakkal Panchayat, Sarpanch Kunti Devi, Block president AAP, Balkrishan Bhagat and Mandeep Choudhary accompanied Tony wherein locals raised many issues regarding civic problems and roads, which are poorly maintained and full of king-size potholes.
Later at village Rohi, the people highlighted the issue of non-existence of a ‘pucca’ road upto the cremation ground. They alleged that since 1947, no dispensation has taken pain to construct this road, leaving the population lurching for the same and facing hardships till date.
Responding to the demand, the senior AAP leader who also happened to be the DDC Member Suchetgarh assured to take up the matter with concerned quarters as soon as possible.
Thereafter, Tony held a public meeting in Khandwal Panchayat of the Constituency wherein locals vociferously raised the issue of dismal condition of drainage system. Consequently, Tony assured that he will ensure that sooner than later the area will have a proper drainage system with cleanliness becoming the top priority.
Ashok Bhagat, Mandeep Choudhary and Bahadur Choudhary accompanied Tony during the visit to Khandwal Panchayat.
