‘Raagdesh’ is  a turning point in my life : Kunal Kapoor

NEW DELHI:  He was last seen in the film ‘Dear Zindagi’  in the role of the charming Raghuvendra, one of the love interests of Alia Bhatt. Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor will next be seen in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Raagdesh’, a film based on the famous red fort trials of the soldiers of the Indian National Army. Kunal, who plays the role of INA office General Shahnawaz Husain in the film, describes ‘Raagdesh’ as a turning point in his life. ”This movie is a turning point in my life. It is a film that has all the human  emotions  like anger, grief, pain and  sorrow. It is full of action,” Kunal said here.

Kunal said that it was the subject of the film that led him to take it up. ”I never say yes to anyone so easily. However, when I read the script for the first time I was both happy as well as surprised. It was not just the INA  that wanted to fight the British rule in India through armed struggle.

India has produced many heroes that completely disagreed with the path followed by Mahatma Gandhi.  There were two schools of thought and each let the other carry on. This is an amazing part of the freedom struggle”, Kunal said.  He expressed confidence that the film would be a huge success.

”I am sure this movie is going to be a big hit,” he said. Directed and produced by national award winning director Tigmanshu Dhulia, ‘Raagdesh’ is based on Indian National Army trials, the court martial of Indian National Army officers Colonel Prem Sehgal, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon and Major General Shah Nawaz Khan.

Mohit Marwah, Amit Sadh and Kunal Kapoor play the role of the three officers. The film, which has been produced by Rajya Sabha TV, hits cinema screens on July 28. (AGENCIES)
