JAMMU, Mar 20: The historic Diwan-e-Aam of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, set amidst picturesque surroundings of the Central Park, hosted a huge gathering of citizens who immensely enjoyed live performance of two comic Radio plays presented by well known artistes of the Radio Kashmir Jammu, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravi Magotra, Program Head, Radio Kashmir Jammu, said that the live performance of comic plays in open air has been done to give an idea to our listeners as to how dramas are produced and how artists knit varied emotions within the fore walls of our recording studios by using only one tool -the voice.
Today’s evening opened with performance of Mahesh Sharma’s Hindi play ‘Dadu Hai Naa’, which was a satire upon taken for granted attitude towards the grandfather who is mainstay of the family. But when the ‘Dadu’-grandfather, wins a lottery there is sea change in the attitude of his dear ones. The plot which struck immediate chord with audience was enacted by seasoned radio actors like that of L D Shastri, Anoop Verma, Ajay Khajuria, Lakshmi Tagotra and Parveen Sharma.
The other play in Dogri which also regaled the spectators was Shiv Mehta’s ‘Naman Zamana’, a take on how house construction and marriage when go together bring about hilarious situations from which no family remains untouched. The actors of the play were J C Bharti, Janak Khajuria, Santosh Sangra, J R Sagar, Nirmal Vikram, Suresh Kumar and Rakesh Kumar.
The plays were directed by Sanjeev Sharma, in charge, Drama Section. The music effects were rendered by Sunil Sharma on synthesizer. Ravi Kant Sharma compeered the program.
Ravi Magotra, expressed thanks to Saujanya Sharma, Director Tourism and Executive Director, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex and Kulbhushan Sharma, Director Floriculture for their full support and cooperation. He said looking at the public response Radio Kashmir Jammu is likely to hold such open air programs every month.
Prominent personalities present on the occasion also included Ashok Khajuria, MLA, Jammu, East, Narinder Singh, ex-Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation and Om Vidyarathi, Chief Conservator.
