JAMMU, Dec 5: The foundation day of Radio Sharda 90.4 FM was celebrated at a simple but impressive function here, today.
A galaxy of poets, writers, artists and scholars attended the function which was chaired by R L Jawhar a well known critic and writer.
In his address Ramesh Hangloo, president, Pir Panchal and founder Director Radio Sharda gave details that how this radio was started and also informed about its working.
On the occasion Jawhar highlighted the role of radio Sharda in cultural renaissance of displaced Pandits since its establishment.
He said besides it performed a great role in cultural movement of geographical community in Jammu.
He said the Radio Sharda has become a source for the displaced Pandits settled in different parts of the Globe to remain hooked to their culture and traditions.
He said the younger generation who were going astray from their culture and language after the mass exodus of the community from Valley fascinated to it again as the radio became a medium of linking them to their roots.
