SRINAGAR, Oct 6: A seven-member delegation of J&K Radio and Doordarshan (DD) Artists, Freelance Producers and Directors Association led by the president Tariq Javid met with the Programme Head All India Radio (AIR), Srinagar, G R Akhoon here.
Other participants were Raja Majeed, Ashraf Razgeeri, Gulfam Barji, Mushtaq Gonie, Akhter Hussain Akhter and Manzoor Malik. The Association expressed immense gratitude to the Directorate and the management of AIR Srinagar for enhancing the long pending fee structure of artists. G R Akhoon agreed to the demand of Jammu based Kashmiri artists and decided to record two plays at Jammu in which Jammu based Kashmiri artists will be booked with new fee.
One of the members of artist fraternity from Jammu Kamal Razdan contacted on phone with G R Akhoon through president of the Association and put forth the difficulties before him which Jammu based Kashmiri artists are facing. Programme Head also agreed to implement the new fee structure and book all artists of Kashmir as per the requirment keeping in view that no artist shall be repeated unless every artist is facilitated to get the benefit of new fee. Akhoon agreed to look into the grievance of artists regarding delay in booking and avoid repeat of artists which amounts to injustice to other artists.
He assured that the plays will be recorded on regular basis so that artists get bookings at right time. It was agreed that delay in payments shall be taken up with concerned accounts section and appropriate action will be taken in releasing payments after the play is broadcast without any delay.
