Rahul asks party workers to strengthen party in J&K

SRINAGAR : All India Congress Committee vice-president Rahul Gandhi today exhorted party workers in Jammu and Kashmir to work towards strengthening the party in the state, going to polls next year.

Talking to party workers here, Mr Gandhi urged them to reach out to people at grassroots level.
A large number of party-leaders, including Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Prof Saifuddin Soz, were also present on the occasion.
Mr Gandhi could not visit Doda as scheduled, due to bad weather.
Officials said that Mr Gandhi’s visit to Doda and Kishtwar was cancelled following incessant rains in the area since last night.
Accompanied by Union ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Jairam Ramesh, Mr Rahul was scheduled to visit the Bhaderwah and Kishtwar today to take stock of the situation in the area, hit by minor tremors since May 1.
Officials said, he landed at Udahampur airfield.
Mr Gandhi arrived here to inaugurate a Centre sponsored Udaan scheme.
