NEW DELHI, Nov 5: Accusing Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi of provoking casteist passions in Gujarat, Union Minister and BJP Election Co-incharge for Gujarat, Dr Jitendra Singh warned the nation against this dangerous game and said, Congress will not be allowed to succeed in dividing Gujarat on caste lines.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of an award ceremony to felicitate youth icons and artists from Northeast, Dr Jitendra Singh lashed out Congress party and said that the party which flaunts its credentials of secularism and teaches lessons of secularism to BJP, is in fact indulging in the worst kind of anti-secular activity in Gujarat because it finds itself devoid of any relevant issue to confront or oppose BJP.
In the last two decades, Dr Jitendra Singh said, under the leadership of Narendra Modi, BJP dispensation has groomed Gujarat into a world class model of revolutionary transformation with even a dreary desert of Kutch turning into an international tourist destination. The Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi have tried to belittle this phenomena by mocking “Vikas” through childish expressions like “Vikas gone crazy” etc., but the people of Gujarat took it as an abuse, which is why the Congress leaders were quick to withdraw these childish phrases.
In a desperation to find some foothold, Rahul Gandhi and his colleagues tried to hook on to some disgruntled individuals and provoke the Pattidar community against others but this attempt also failed with the Pattidar community itself rejecting this move. It is time, he said, for Congress party to make its stand clear on reservation policy and to tell the nation categorically whether it is toying with the idea of reviewing or revising the OBC policy.
Making a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s sarcastic Tweets about GST and demonetisation, Dr Jitendra Singh said, perhaps nobody has informed Rahul that each and every decision of GST is taken by GST Council, whose members include Chief Ministers of Congress ruled States as well. If Rahul Gandhi, indeed, has some grievances against GST decisions, he should first take up the issue with the Congress Chief Minister in different Congress ruled State, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh claimed that with each passing day, the election contest in Gujarat is become a one – sided affair in favour of BJP, more so, because the aspirational youth find their dreams being realised under BJP led Government rather than under a family – centric Congress party.
Earlier, in a glittering award ceremony Dr Jitendra Singh felicitated youth icons from Northeast including singer Zubin Garg, three time Everest climber Anshu Jamsenpa and Film producer of Piku and Pink fame Ronnie Lehari.
