Railway Board Chairman announces Rs 25K Award for Jammu Rly Station Loco Lobby

JAMMU, Sept 14: Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, Satish Kumar has announced a cash award of Rs 25,000 for the Loco Lobby at Jammu Tawi Railway Station. The announcement was made during his inspection of the station, where he was accompanied by senior railway officials.
During the visit, Satish Kumar emphasized the need for improved road infrastructure leading to the station’s new building, instructing that it be completed as soon as possible. Noting the heavy footfall at Jammu Railway Station, he also called for the swift construction of a second foot overbridge, which will connect all platforms, including the three old and two new platforms.
Expressing concern over the condition of the Station’s second-class waiting room and toilets, Kumar directed that they be cleaned every hour. His instructions were immediately implemented, with railway staff and contractors ensuring cleanliness even late into the night.
At the Jan Ahar restaurant, passengers raised concerns about the heat inside the facility. In response, Kumar ordered the installation of air conditioning units, which was promptly completed the following morning. He also voiced his dissatisfaction with the non-functioning lift near the restaurant.
Additionally, the Chairman conducted a detailed inspection of the yard remodeling and recommended modifications to the Station’s second entry in the new building. His visit reflects a commitment to enhancing passenger experience and modernizing the Station’s infrastructure.
