Railways conducts drive to check unauthorized travel

JAMMU, Apr 3: To check un-authorized travelling in trains, a special drive was launched today in Jammu Mail from Jammu to Katra.
During the checking, 22 persons were found travelling without proper ticket and an amount of Rs 8750, including fare and penalty was realized from the erring travelers.
Sharing the details, Station Director Uchit Singhal told the Excelsior that basic purpose behind the drive is to check the practice of unauthorized travel in the railway coaches and to sensitize the public to board the trains after having only proper tickets.
“Illegitimate travel does not only mean loss of revenue for the railways but it also troubles the bonafide railway passengers and can give rise to safety and security concerns also,” he added.
