JAMMU, July 30: Railways Police today worked out the honour killing of young Ritu Kumari by arresting her father, an employees of Food Corporation of India (FCI) and a resident of Bihar, from Channi Rama today.
The accused has been identified as Ram Preet Paswan, a resident of Maksoodpur, Nalanda in Bihar.
IGP Railways Dr Kamal Saini and SSP Railways Shiv Kumar Sharma told reporters that a special team of Railways conducted raids at Patna in search of Paswan after body of his daughter was found from Ahmedabad Express at Jammu Railway Station on May 21.
Police was looking for Paswan and had conducted searches in Patna as well. He was finally trapped and arrested from Channi Rama when he had come to collect cash and other items from the house.
The accused has been booked under Section 302 RPC at Railways police station for further investigations. He had killed his daughter as she had fallen in love with a boy whom he didn’t like.
“It was a case of honour killing,’’ Railways Police officers said.
Meanwhile, Dr Saini reviewed security scenario at Jammu Railway Station and other places on the railway track with SSP Railways, Jammu Shiv Kumar Sharma and SSP Railways Katra Abhay Mahajan along with senior officers in view of upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
Dr Saini directed the police officials to maintain security at all sensitive areas.
Dr Saini, Mr Sharma and Mr Mahajan also installed rank of SP on recently promoted DySP Railways Paramvir Singh.
